Scotland’s Team Henderson had a difficult second day at the World Junior Championships in Sweden when they suffered defeats at the hands of both the USA and Switzerland.
The morning match against the Americans had started promisingly for Fay Henderson, Katie McMillan, Lisa Davie and Holly Wilkie-Milne when they registered a three at the second end and they maintained that advantage to the midway break.
The momentum of the match swung dramatically at the sixth end, however, when they conceded a four and while they looked to have regained the initiative by scoring three at the ninth end to take an 8-6 advantage into the final end, a three for the USA at the last gave them a 9-8 win.
The Scots then faced Switzerland who had lost both of their first two matches and fell behind early when, after a blanked opening end, they conceded a two at the next.
They got on the score board with a single at the next, but another two for their opponents, followed by a steal at the fifth gave the Swiss a 5-1 lead at the midway break.
A two at the sixth end brought them back within range, but after a blanked seventh end, the Swiss matched that at the eighth to re-establish a four shot advantage, then closed the match out with a steal at the next to round off an 8-3 win.
Team Henderson now meet Japan in their only match of day three.
Live games will be available to watch through The Curling Channel in partnership with Recast.
