Scotland’s women regrouped well for their second match of day three at the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships to register a 9-3 win over Hungary and keep themselves in play-off contention.
Earlier in the day they had looked set to claim their second win of the event when they led Turkiye 4-2 heading down the last end, only to concede a three.
However, they made sure that there would be no late drama in their encounter with the Hungarians, taking just seven ends to build up that substantial lead which resulted in their opponents accepting defeat.
“It was super important for us to come back tonight with a positive mindset, converging into a strong performance after our disappointing loss to Turkiye this morning,” said Sophie Jackson, who is calling the shots for the team and is ranked top among the lead players at the event after five rounds of matches.
.”Our chat after this morning’s game was just about coming back to our evening game with the same approach as we had in this morning’s first eight ends, and we knew we’d see the game through.
“We won’t let the loss this morning play on our minds moving forwards.
“We know we have four games left that we can win so that’s what we’ll be trying our best to do.”
Another two game day looms on day four of the event as they face Estonia, who have won just one of their five matches so far, before then taking on Lithuania, who have still to win a match.
