World and European Selection Policies
Posted on
The new World and European Selection Policies for athletes representing Scotland at future major championships were approved by the Scottish Curling Board at their meeting yesterday.
A significant amount of work undertaken by Scottish Curling in collaboration with British Curling has contributed to the policies, which takes into account a range of criteria to be applied in future selection processes to ensure teams are given the best possible chance of success at future major championships.
The new system which will apply to Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles disciplines will be run in collaboration with British Curling, which runs the elite professional programme funded by UK Sport and brings curling’s new policy principles in line with other Olympic sports. The forward thinking system aims to maximise the opportunity to achieve medal success for Team Scotland at World and European Championships, as well as securing necessary Olympic qualification places at Beijing in 2022, in line with British Curling’s UK Sport milestone targets.
The sport’s governing bodies have published the policies today, available from the links below, as well as the Scottish Curling website.
