Team Muirhead are back in action again tomorrow when they follow their near unbeaten run at the Le Gruyere European Championships at Braehead with a third trip of the season to Canada to contest the Grand Slam of Curling National at Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario.

Their recovery from losing their semi-final to the eventual winners from Russia earned skip Eve Muirhead and third Anna Sloan a seventh successive medal, Vicki Adams won a sixth and Lauren Gray her first at the Euros and after a weekend off they are aiming to finish the year in style.

“After a good Europeans, which we finished on a high, we gathered a lot of momentum and it would be great to take that forward into the next couple of weeks,” said Muirhead.

“Playing out here in Canada is never easy, but as a team we are ready and expect anything that is thrown at us. Ice conditions, crowds and competitions are guaranteed to be fantastic so no excuses for not performing. Christmas isn’t far away and we are looking forward to spending this with family and friends after an intense couple of weeks.”

Olympic silver medallists Team Murdoch will also be competing at the Grand Slam event and skip David Murdoch said: “It’s been great to have been home for ten days and get in some quality practice as well as recharge the batteries.

“It’s an exciting two weeks ahead with the GSOC in Sault Ste Marie and then we fly round the world to defend our title at the Karuizawa International at the Nagano Olympic Park.

“Every week matters on tour for Order of Merit points so we are looking for success to finish the year on a high”, he said.
