AITKEN ANDREWS FINALISE PREP FOR NATIONAL CHAMPS AT AARAU TROPHY

Posted on

Five times Scottish Mixed Doubles Champion Gina Aitken and her partner Scott Andrews will make their last competitive outing in Switzerland this weekend ahead of defending the national title next month.

The pair believe their preparations are setting them up for the key phase of their season and Andrews paid tribute to their coach Greg Drummond, his former team mate with whom he claimed a silver medal in the men’s event at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

“Working with Greg this season has been great,” he said.

“He has introduced a lot of new ideas about training, loading and content and it has really helped us to be in the best shape possible for each event.

“This is our last competition prior to the Scottish next month and we reached the quarter finals here last year, so we are looking to improve on that result. Every tournament and all of our training has been gearing up to the Scottish which is our main target of the year and it would be great to have a good performance here in our last push towards that goal.”

Team Aitken Andrews are one of 18 teams that will contest the International Mixed Doubles Aarau Trophy which gets underway in Switzerland tomorrow.
