Two Wins For Team Muirhead On Day Two of World Champs

Posted on

Team Muirhead secured two wins on the second day of the Ford Women’s World Curling Championships in Swift Current, to propel them up the standings into a share of third place along with Russia, Switzerland and Germany.

Scotland beat South Korea 8-6 in their first match of the day, they led from the outset and maintained their margin despite their opponent’s efforts to stay in the game.

Team Muirhead’s Coach David Hay said, “It was a much better performance today, they got a better feeling for the ice, the girls all had good draw weight, good draw control and shot an 86% team average and despite the fact they were playing against the Korean skip who, from the fourth end onwards, shot 100% we came out with an 8-6 victory, so a good momentum builder for tonight.”

His words proved prophetic as Team Muirhead secured an emphatic victory in their second game of the day, defeating Team Driendl from Germany 10-3, concluding the match with a four on the seventh end which sealed the win.

Skip Eve Muirhead said after the team’s second winning performance, “We bounced back strong with two great wins today. The team played well and just need to keep consistent. It's a marathon not a sprint!”
