AITKEN ANDREWS SET TO STEP UP A GEAR IN BERN

Posted on

Team Aitken Andrews are looking for another podium finish at the Mixed Doubles in Bern this weekend (15-17 November), after finishing third in the event last year.

“We always look forward to Bern as it attracts the best teams from around Europe and it is a great club to play in,” said Scottish Mixed Doubles Champion, Gina Aitken.

“We have had just over a week since our last event and we are looking to step it up and put in a strong performance.”

Aitken and her playing partner Scott Andrews also finished third in their first event of this season in Oberstdorf and followed that up with a quarter final finish in St Gallen. However, in a tough field in Madison last weekend, the duo missed out on a play-off spot and Andrews is keen that they remedy that in Bern.

“After missing out on qualification for the first time this season in Madison, we were disappointed not to perform to the high standard we know we are capable of,” he said.

“So we have been working hard in training this week, aiming to take that hard work into the event this weekend and we are looking for a podium finish.”

Fellow Scots Team Kingan Stirling and English Mixed Doubles Champions Anna and Ben Fowler are also in the line-up.
